Singer and actress Connie Fisher spent a day out at Oakwood Theme Park earlier this month.
The ‘Sound of Music’ star, who went to school in Haverfordwest, is a keen supporter of Pembrokeshire and recently hosted the Radio Pembrokeshire Local Hero Awards.
During her visit she spent time in the park’s new £4m Neverland feature and even enjoyed a ride on ‘Skull Rock’ their pirate-themed log flume.
Oakwood Theme Park Director, Dominic Jones, said: “It was great to be able to welcome Connie back to the park.
“Apparently she was a regular visitor as a youngster and it’s fantastic that she was able to come back and see all the new developments for herself.
“We met Connie at the Local Hero Awards ceremony where we were sponsoring ‘Dad of the Year’ and she mentioned then how much she was looking forward to seeing the new Neverland feature.
“From what I understand she had a great time with us and sensibly took the precaution of wearing one of our waterproof ponchos when she went on the log flume ride as there is a tendency to get a little bit damp on it!” he added.
Since opening Neverland, Oakwood has seen a major boost in visitor numbers with figures more than 65% up on the same time last year.
“It’s great to see the park filled with visitors, yesterday we had close to 5,000 people through the gates,” added Dominic.
Connie, 30, lives in Barry with her husband Jeremy Reed. The new Connie Fisher Academy Professional Musical Theatre Development Course was launched at the Wonderland Studios in Cardiff this month.
Set in 88 acres of spectacular Pembrokeshire countryside Oakwood is Wales’ biggest family adventure with more than 40 exhilarating rides and amazing experiences to discover.
New for 2013 is Neverland, a Peter Pan-themed adventure park which spreads across more than three acres and features 10 new rides and attractions.
