On Sunday 5th August, during our daily checks before opening to the public, engineers spotted a problem with the chain tension on Speed. In order to investigate this thoroughly, the car has been taken off the tracks and the ride manufacturer contacted for further support.
Speed is currently unavailable while our engineering team work with the manufacturer, based in Germany, to resolve this issue and to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
The ride manufacturers are currently fabricating improved replacement parts and will be on park on Monday to work with our engineers to complete the repair. Unfortunately, we envisage this process may take around one week, with the hope to get Speed back up and running for Wednesday 15th August.
Safety at Oakwood Theme Park is our number one concern and we will only re-open this ride once we are satisfied it is safe to do so following extremely rigorous testing. Thank you for your patience and understanding – we hope you will join us in wishing Speed a Speedy recovery!
