Theme Park confirms “Neverland” link to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity
Oakwood Theme Park’s delighted to announce the new £4m Peter-Pan-themed ‘Neverland’ attraction, which opens this Friday (May 24th), will be benefiting Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSHCC).
The new area, featuring 10 new rides and attractions, is themed around the world-famous story by author J M Barrie, who gifted the hospital all rights to Peter Pan back in 1929.
Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity’s Peter Pan Director, Christine De Poortere, said: “J M Barrie’s amazing gift of his timeless classic Peter Pan continues to help towards the remarkable work carried out by Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
“We’re delighted that Oakwood Theme Park are creating their own Neverland in this beautiful part of Wales and wish them every success.”
Among the new rides are ‘Skull Rock’ pirate log flume, the ‘Lost Boys Adventure’, ‘Neverland Chase’, ‘Tink’s Flying School’, ‘Crocodile Coaster’, ‘Jolly Roger’ mini galleon., ‘Hook’s House of Havoc’ soft play and the ‘Sights of London’ taxi ride.
There is also ‘Journey to Neverland’ a stunning, interactive walkthrough. Other areas are themed as London parks and there is also a kids’ ‘Aerodrome’ ride as well as food and retail outlets.
Oakwood Theme Park’s Dominic Jones said: “It’s been tough to keep the name of the new attraction, together with its link to Great Ormond Street Hospital, secret for so long but we really wanted it to be a surprise.
“What better inspiration for a theme park attraction could there be than Peter Pan – ‘the boy who would not grow up’?
“We have been fortunate to work with the top theming companies and designers in Europe and everyone here is delighted with the results of all their hard work.
“It is also fantastic to be able to support such an amazing charity like GOSHCC at the same time as entertaining hundreds of thousands of visitors of all ages,” he added.
