Cross Country success

Hundreds of primary school children braved mist and rain to take part in a major sporting event at Oakwood Theme Park last week.
The Pembrokeshire attraction played host to 844 sporty youngsters for the 21st anniversary Pembrokeshire Primary Schools Cross Country Championships.
The event attracted competitors from across the region with youngsters from 47 county primary schools braving the conditions to take part at different age levels.
The race is run at the award-winning attraction every year and this year’s race proved particularly popular with competitors and spectators alike.
A spokesperson for Oakwood Theme Park said: “The weather was less than perfect and everyone here would like to congratulate both the youngsters and their parents for coming out in such numbers in spite of the rain and mist.
“We’re proud to be involved in such a major event for school children which attracts so many competitors from all across the county,” he added.
This year’s champions were Saundersfoot, runners up Tavernspite and Milford Haven Juniors in third place.
